Philadelphia, PA — The JPI Group won the prestigious National Minority Supplier Development Council’s Supplier of The Year Class II Award. The award recognizes Asian, Black, Hispanic, and Native American business enterprises for their business growth and development, operational success, support of other minority businesses, and active participation in the community.
The honorees are divided into four groups, based on annual sales. One company from each group is named National Supplier of the Year. The JPI Group, nominated by Comcast’s Supplier Diversity Team, won Class II National Supplier of the Year, which is designated for firms with $1 million to $10 million in annual sales.
In winning the National Supplier of the Year, the JPI Group beat out other finalists including, V2Soft, Inc. and GoProcure, Inc. In accepting the award, co-founder of The JPI Group, Iyomakha Douglas, reflected on their ability to pivot during these unprecedented times. “We feel honored and blessed that in our most difficult year in business, we were able to receive such a prestigious nomination. This speaks directly to our team, our culture, and the support of the EMSDC council. Our goal as we close out the year and enter 2021 is to do our part in supporting other small, women-owned and minority businesses as we all navigate the current economic climate.”
Paul Douglas, President and co-founder of The JPI Group, echoed that statement. “We are so incredibly grateful for our team’s commitment! Especially, as we pivoted during COVID-19 and added a new service line, offering On-Demand Recruiting, as part of our mission to provide exceptional service as a premiere recruitment and consulting firm. According to a study by the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, there was a 41% drop in Black working business owners compared to just 17% of white-owned businesses. The impact of the virus compounded with years of systematic racism and growing economic disparities have devastated minority & small business in communities across America. With that said, we ask MBE vendors, corporate members, and other organizations to not only continue but maximize your support of supplier diversity goals and diversity and inclusion initiatives.”
Prior to this National award, The JPI Group won the Eastern Minority Supplier Development Council’s 2019 Supplier of the Year as well as the Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Advocate of the Year. The MBE Advocate of the Year award is reserved for an individual who exhibits exceptional dedication and tangible actions to support MBE sustainability, growth, and innovation. In his current role as President of The JPI Group, Mr. Douglas has spearheaded a strong push to encourage individuals to whole-heartedly dedicate their time and efforts to the cause of their choice as well as the development of personal and business goals. As a speaker, Paul is passionate about speaking on the power and long-term community impact of hiring and mentoring diverse businesses,
The JPI Group is certified as a Minority Business Enterprise, Women Owned Small Business, Small Business Enterprise, New York Empire State Development, EDWOSB, Pennsylvania DOT and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise.
